HOSEA 14:8[NLT] O Israel, stay away from idols! I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you. I am like a tree that is always green; all your fruit comes from me."

I was looking out of the window of the Piano room and I saw a tree outside with a lot of green leaves. I remembered that when I was studying Agriculture, there were trees, which we were told, would always have green leaves on them no matter what the climate was. These kinds of trees or shrubs have leaves all throughout the year and they are ever green.

I discovered that, as new leaves are being produced, old leaves are shed. Even though the old leaves would still want to hang on to the branches of the tree, the time would come when they would have to fall off to allow the new leaves come forth.

This got me thinking of how God has made us like evergreen trees, of which the supply of His blessings never ceases. However, the reason why we don’t realise this evergreen blessing is because we don’t seem to realise the time when the old leaves are to be shed. We don’t realise when certain things, habits or people should be shed from our lives. We are too busy trying to hold on to the things that are hindering our blessings from coming forth, like bad friends, past hurts, unforgiveness and sin.

There has to be a pruning before fruitfulness. So also, God cannot put new wine in old wineskins. He sometimes removes or destroys the old in our lives so that a new thing can begin that would bring glory to His name.

During these times of pruning or shedding, it is not that the blessings of God have ceased. They are ever continuing, even though we do not see them. As the trees never cease to show leaves that are green, so our lives will not cease to show forth the glory of God, as long as we are attached to Him.

Have a lovely week.
