Weekly Beatifc – Up and Away

Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again.

Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. Micah 7:8 (NLT)

A few weeks ago I posted an article called “False Start” where recounted the story of Usain Bolt who was disqualified for a false start at the World Championship in 2011. Three years later, he has become the fastest man on earth once again taking gold at the 2015 World Athletic championship.

As amazing as it was and the celebration of everyone around the world, the basic ingredient of such success was being able to shake away past disappointment get up and away he went unto winning ways. Usain Bolt faced disappointment when he got disqualified for a false start. I am sure that, like anyone else would have been, he was bitterly disappointed. As disappointed as he would have been with himself, he did not let it discourage him. I am sure he must have gone back to train even harder so that he would not be subject to another false start.

A false start, a failure, a setback, a mistake, or an error cannot keep you down, should not define who you are and where you can get to, it should and can be (depending on you) a rite of passage for you to rise again and be on your way. Remember that you are not defeated by getting knocked down. You face defeat by staying down. To do this, we need to have an attitude adjustment and total faith in God’s promises to us.

Arise and shine is what the book of Isaiah told us, which tells me that for so long they were down in darkness, but God commanded them to rise and shine.  You can rise and shine that your setback becomes a setup, that a mistake becomes a miracle that a failure can become a success story and a false start like Usain Bolt can become a World Champion again.

Have a lovely week.

Every Grace & Peace
